Scalpel SEO privacy policy

Scalpel SEO collects no personal or usage data. Last updated 3 November 2026.

Who runs this extension

Scalpel SEO and scalpellabs.ai are run by AUMNIFY AI LIMITED, a New Zealand company (NZBN 9429053797254). In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that company.

What it reads, and where that stays

The extension reads the page you ask it to audit: the title, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data and hreflang tags. It works all of this out on your device. We have no server that receives it, and page data, URLs and results are never sent to us.

If you keep the side panel open, the audit runs again when you switch tabs or when a page finishes loading, so the panel stays in step with what you're viewing. That also stays on your device. Close the panel to stop it.

What it stores

Two settings, both kept in your own browser: your theme (Auto, Light or Dark) and your on/off choice for each right-click shortcut. It stores no page content, browsing history or personal data. Removing the extension removes these settings.

Every network request it can make

None of these goes to us, apart from the Scalpel Labs links you choose to click.

  • HTTP header check.Click "Check HTTP headers" and the extension requests the page's URL, without cookies, to read its status code, content type and X-Robots-Tag header.
  • Hreflang live check.Click "Check live status" and the extension requests up to 20 alternate URLs that the page declares, without cookies, to read each status code and look for a link back. The response is read in your browser and then dropped.
  • View as Googlebot. Turn this on and the extension changes the User-Agent header for that tab only, then reloads it. The change ends when you turn it off, close the tab or restart Chrome.
  • Images from the page. The favicon loads as soon as the analysis finishes. Thumbnails and social preview images load when you open their tabs, and they are sent with no referrer. All of them come from the addresses the page gives, which may be a third-party host. They carry nothing beyond a normal image request. To avoid the thumbnails and previews on a sensitive page, don't open the Images or Social tabs.
  • External tool links. PageSpeed Insights, the Rich Results Test, backlink explorers and similar tools open in a new tab when you click them, and they may receive the page URL. Those services have their own privacy policies.
  • Scalpel Labs links. The "?" help links, the Donate button and the footer open scalpellabs.ai in a new tab when you click them. They carry campaign tags naming the extension and the help topic or button. They never carry the page URL or your results.

Sharing

We don't sell or transfer user data, because we don't collect any. The extension has no analytics, no advertising and no accounts.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask whether we hold personal information about you, see it and have it corrected. The extension gives us none, so we'd only hold what you send us by email. If you're unhappy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For how the website and our other extensions work, see the general privacy page.
